Three teenagers drowned while taking a bath in a pond on the banks of Yamuna in Shastri Park area of North-East Delhi. Coincidentally, the station in-charge was present near the spot to investigate a murder case. On getting the news, the police team immediately reached the spot.
All the three teenagers were taken out of the water with the help of divers. They were put in a police vehicle and taken to the nearby Jag Pravesh Chand Hospital, where all three were declared brought dead. The deceased have been identified as Himanshu (12), Sunny (14) and Krishna (13). Police have taken the dead bodies in possession and sent them to the mortuary of GTB Hospital for postmortem. District Deputy Commissioner of Police Dr. Joy Tirkey said that the three teenagers lived with their families in Bhagwanpur Kheda area of Shahdara.
Himanshu was a student of class VI. His family consists of father Govardhan, two brothers Surya, Jayakumar and other members. His father does small work. Whereas, Sunny has mother Durga Devi and an elder and younger brother in his family. Krishna’s family consists of parents and others. The three boys along with another friend left the house without informing their family members. All three had reached the Yamuna Khadar area while roaming around.
Fourth teenager saved because of not taking bath
All the friends reached near the pond built on the banks of the Yamuna. Himanshu, Sunny and Krishna went down to the pond to take a bath. The fourth friend did not go to bathe. The three boys who got into the water went into deep water. Nobody knew how to swim. They drowned as soon as they saw it. When the fourth boy raised an alarm, a person came there.
